Côte d’Ivoire : a strong leader of Group 1.



The “Elephants” of Ivory Coast beated the “Panthères” of Gabon (5-0) last sunday in Abidjan for the 2d qualifying match for the African Cup of Nations 2008. “Arsenal” defender Kolo TOURE scored a free-kick at a distance of 25 meters at the 10th minute of play. Arouna KONE (PSV Eindhoven) scored the 1st of his 3 goals at the 22d minute, followed by Aruna DINDANE (Lens) at the 32d minute. KONE scored again at yhe 55th and the 70th minutes for a remarkable hat-trick.
The 2d match in that group was not played due to the fact that Djibouti who was suppoesed to face Madagascar Has decided to withdraw from the competition.
