SENEGAL: Mamadou NIANG wounded.
The Olympic de Marseille (OM) senegalese international attacker Mamadou NIANG was forced to leave the playig field last saturday at the 74th minute of the match opposing OM to Toulouse FC (a play won by OM 3-0) because a strained muscle of his thigh.

This injury is rather a bad news for OM coach Albert EMON because his team is due to meet successively Lens (at Lens) on october 14 and above all Olympic Lyonnais (at Velodrome Stadium in Marseille), the indisputable leader of french football Premier League on octobre 21. It’s also a bad news for Henri KASPERCZAK, the french coach of the “Lions de la Teranga” (the Senegal national football team) since his team will be meeting the Burkina Faso national team (the “Etalons”) next week-end in Ouagadougou for the 2d qualifying match for the ACN 2008. Although Burkina’s team is no firebrand at present nevertheless the absence of NIANG from the forefront of the attack of the “Lions de la Teranga” will be a serious handicap at a moment when recent experience has proved that henceforth the football level of the differents teams in Africa is reaching a certain point levelling up. Remeber that Togo qualified for the Worl Cup 2006 in a group including... Senegal

Dispite his injury NIANG has a motive to be satisfied: he has been classified by the magazine “L’Equipe” as the best attacker of the 8th of Premier League plays.
